Gold Recovery from E-Waste
(December 2016, Muscat, Oman) Researchers of the Caledonian College of Engineering, Oman, have recovered a good amount of pure gold from locally available e-waste. The present work aims to extract gold from e-waste by aqua regia solution based hydrometallurgy method which includes a sequence of processes that starts from the treatment of the e-waste in HCL solution and ends up with the use of fire assaying technology to get the piece of gold.
The outcome of the project was successful with 0.05395gm of 23.76 karats and 99.01 % purity of gold extracted. X-ray method was used to check the purity and karat of the gold.
